Swine Flu Update #4: Christel House Mexico

In what is hopefully our last needed update on the situation in Mexico City, Patricia Diaz Covarrubias (our principal) writes...

Dear all,

Hope this finds you well.

Things in Mexico seem to have come back to normal. Day care centers, pre-schools, elementary and middle school entered today. I just want to give you some brief news of the actions implemented in Christel House Mexico to receive the children successfully today.

Actions:

Before the students entered Christel House
  • A full cleaning campaign was organized on Friday and Saturday with parents and cleaning company to receive the children. SEP authorities came to supervise both days commending Christel House for its actions.
  • Promote the washing of hands several times throughout the day
  • Breakfast and lunch will be served in individual bags (a sandwich, fruit, juice and a dessert)
  • An empty place will be left between children to avoid having too many students together
  • Parents will be cleaning tables and chairs as soon as children leave their seat
  • Teachers and students will clean up their classrooms twice or three times a day with soap, water and chloride
  • Commissions to filter children's entrance was organized. NO sick child or staff member will be allowed into the facility
Results:
  • Facility was clean
  • Commissions were ready to filter students by asking the 5 questions suggested by authorities
  • Commissions led children to dining rooms to receive breakfast supervising that they left an empty seat
  • Teaching staff was ready in classroom organizing school work
  • Parents cleaned seats and tables immediately
  • Attendance was the following: 17 students absent from elementary school, 3 were sent home in the filter outside Christel House, 3 were sent home during the school day, 2 were absent from Secondary
Cleaning materials were delivered to staff. Everything worked very well. Entrance was quick and facility was kept clean. Hope this helps to see how things are going. Best regards, Patricia

Thanks again for all your thoughts, prayers and concerns. We wish our students, staff and teachers the best in their transition back to normal.
