Christel House Academy students screamed and applauded when
Butler basketball senior, Avery Jukes, walked into their gymnasium.
Jukes spoke to the 5-8 graders about overcoming obstacles and never giving up on your dreams. The highlight of the afternoon was having Jukes dunk a basket in our very own gymnasium and posing for photographs with Christel House students. Jukes started a foundation called
The Jukes Foundation For Kids. It is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to aiding less fortunate children and providing educational opportunities for a chance at a better life. JFK strives to improve the quality of life for children in the United States and Uganda through community involvement and humanitarian support.
In addition to operating Jukes Foundation for Kids and continuing his education, Avery is also a standout player for the Butler Bulldog basketball team. Jukes' experiences as a student-athlete has allowed him to travel to many places, but no place has yet to inspire him like his trip to Uganda. Last year Jukes helped build a new primary school with seven classrooms, a headmaster's office and a library. Every year, Jukes plans to visit Uganda and continue providing hands-on humanitarian services.
A special thank you to Reverend Ajabu for coordinating this event! And as a partner in making the world a better place, we congratulate Avery for all he has and will accomplish!
