If Pollution and Global warming are real issues, the measures to curb it are equally real. Some of these suggestions came alive at the Science Olympiad held at Christel House India in October with Dell Powering all what is Possible. While the participants from grade 5 to 12 used enormous imagination and passion to come up with projects to curb pollution on this planet, volunteers from Dell participated equally and enthusiastically encouraging these young minds. The Dell volunteers encouraged children to give better explanation and innovative ideas were appreciated. They further probed the students on the measures taken by Christel House in its bit to curb global warming, sensitizing them to start from their home turf. The students worked on topics including global warming, acid rain, depletion of soil and the effects of pollution. 3-dimensional models were prepared with renewable resources, biodegradable material such as waste leaves, paper, and available lab equipment. Students worked on strong and compelling scripts prove their point on the cause and effect of melting glaciers and the pollutants like CFCs and its effects. This drew several queries and adulation from the participating employees of Dell at the event. “Evil robot” – the model on pollution, was the star of the day. It was created with waste products and paper, reusable plastic water bottles. Air, water and industrial pollution were highlighted and explained by the students in the group. The Science Olympiad winners were Golden Orioles with 177 Points. Followed by Purple Peacock with 165 points. The entire Olympiad was technologically programmed with power point presentation to support the quizzing and experiment rounds. The enthusiastic participation from Dell brought alive the innumerable possibilities to power the anti-global warming brigade of Christel House.
