A $25,000
matching grant made by Andy Ording, founder of Zipp, and his wife, Hermiene,
raised more than $128,000 during the kick-off of the Epic Challenge campaign, a
global initiative to build sports fields for our learning center in Cape Town.
To honor and support the students of Christel House, Andy, a South African
native now residing in Indianapolis, IN, and his teammate, Todd Winget, rode in
the ABSA Cape Epic Untamed African Mountain Bike Race, cycling more than 400
miles in eight days through the Western Cape.
“Visiting
CHSA was a truly moving experience,” said Andy. “From being hugged immediately
by the
Kindergarten
children, to the unbridled excitement during the field games, we were
constantly reminded of how important it is to invest in the future of
impoverished children.”
