If you were out and about on May 2, 2010 you may have noticed a few extra lemonade stands at the neighborhood park or street curb thanks to
Lemonade Day. It's a day designed to 'prepare youth for life' with experiential education projects focused on entrepreneurship.
Indianapolis Lemonade Day was spearheaded by
Scott Jones a local, serial entrepreneur.
One participant - Juliette, age 7 - built her stand, made lemonade and baked cookies and brownies to sell alongside. While the weather wasn't great, it didn't dampen her plans. She moved inside the nearest grocery and kept at it. She tried not to eat her profits and even dabbled in market testing - learning that pink lemonade was more popular than yellow "even among boys".
While Juliette could have kept everything she earned, she chose to donate her proceeds to Christel House and toured
Christel House Academy to see the difference she made! We're sure Juliette has a great future ahead of her and with her help a Christel House student now has a brighter future of their own.
A big thanks to Juliette for her donation, her big heart and great example. Every gift counts and together, with the help of those like Juliette, we're making a world of difference!
